What does IBM Power7 end of support actually mean?

Will my Power7 system still work after its end-of-support date?

What is the newest IBM i version Power7 hardware can run?

Should I buy a used Power7 system in 2026?
Generally no, for production use -- Power7 is out of IBM hardware support and its only supported IBM i release (7.3) is itself past standard support. Buying used Power7 hardware makes more sense as a source of spare parts or memory for an existing system than as a primary production purchase.
What is third-party maintenance (TPM) and how does it help Power7?
TPM is hardware maintenance from a vendor other than IBM, typically covering parts and break-fix support at 50-70% below IBM's own pricing, and commonly extending a system's supported life 3-5 years or more past IBM's own end-of-service date. It does not restore IBM's firmware or IBM i security patch stream.
Can I still get replacement parts for a Power7 system?

What replaces IBM Power7?
