PowerVM
IBM's virtualization platform for Power servers, providing LPAR partitioning and the Virtual I/O Server (VIOS).
PowerVM and VIOS levels are a common migration friction point: a Power7 system's PowerVM/VIOS level is typically too old to run unmodified on Power9 or later hardware and needs to be updated as part of the migration project, not assumed to carry over.
