Software Tier
IBM i's processor-based software pricing tier (P05 through P80), which determines license and subscription pricing independent of the physical hardware generation.
A system's software tier is set by its performance rating, not its generation directly -- migrating from a Power7 system to a much faster modern system typically means re-pricing IBM i software at a different tier, which should be budgeted explicitly.
